Meeting Julianne...

We have been back from Ethiopia for a week (and a day). Julianne is doing great...really great. She likes to be held alot...actually she is pretty insistent that she be held :o) She fits right in...haha! However, she is sleeping through the night and taking two naps a day...couldn't ask for more :o) The girls are in love with her...big surprise! We feel so blessed that God has placed another beautiful, sweet, charming daughter in our family.

Our trip to Ethiopia was...beautiful, enduring, heartbreaking, exhausting, exhilarating, emotional, fun, exciting, humbling, sad, convicting, gorgeous...I could go on and on. Ethiopia will definitely always hold a special place in our hearts and the things we saw will never be far from my mind.

I will be writing about our trip over the next few days...just too much to put in one post :o)

We were so happy to land in Addis on time and with all of our luggage :o) A couple hours after we arrived at the guesthouse, our agency rep arrived with the children. We were lucky enough to have a room at the front of the house so we saw Fanose (yep, we learned that there is an "e" at the end of her name and we learned how she was named...so sweet) as soon as they pulled through the gate. She is stunning. Seriously, beautiful...inside and out.

Our first meeting was right out of an adoption fairy tale (I think we had one of those coming after our first meeting with Sophie Le...haha!). She leaned for me to take her and seemed perfectly content and happy to be with her new family. She has such a sweet, loving personality. Our driver brought us pizza for supper (which was yummy) and we had a wonderful afternoon and evening just playing with Julianne and walking her around outside. I am not sure if it was jet lag or the excitement of meeting Julianne, but we didn't notice that the electricity was out the entire first day we were there...and EVERY single afternoon for the rest of our stay :o) Surprisingly, it wasn't a big deal. Julianne slept in a wooden cradle next to our bed and when she woke up the next morning she looked surprised to see us, but quickly starting smiling and playing.

Here are a few pics from our first day in Ethiopia...

We had pretty short notice to travel so our travel options were pretty limited. We drove to Memphis and then flew to Houston and had a L O N G layover before our SUPER LONG flight to Dubai. Here is Neil in front of the airplane that took us from Dubai to our daughter (Addis Ababa)!! To say we were ready to get there would be an understatement :o)

We flew Emirates and were very pleased.

We were greeted by Travis, one of our agency's in-country staff, at the airport....he was a pretty entertaining guy! He introduced us to our driver for the week, Becky. Actually Becky isn't his real name, just an Americanized version :o) Here we are with Becky:

She's here!!! You can't see her, but she is riding in the front seat...with no car seat :o)

The house (Bejoe House) we stayed at had a beautiful garden...I will write more about the house later.
