Day 23 - Flashback to Little Man...

I got a couple emails asking about Little Man. Little Man was our first foster baby. He was 14 months old when he came to live with us. He is the youngest of three siblings. He lived with us for 3 1/2 wonderful months. We were blessed to watch him take his first steps. We also got to spend Easter with him :o) The change we saw in Little Man was dramatic. He came to us as a very stiff, zoned out baby and left an energetic, giggly, running toddler. I don't say this to say we did anything remarkable with him...hardly! All we did was take care of him and love him. That is the crazy thing about foster doesn't take much to make a difference in the life of a child. Kids want to be loved. They respond to love. They need love.

It is hard to believe he was only with us for such a short period of time. He changed our lives forever. It is funny to think about how the composition of our family has changed in the last year. A year ago, we had Hillary Ashton & Sophie Le. Nine months ago, we had four kids: Hillary Ashton, Sophie Le, Little Man & Little Lady. Now we have four kids: Hillary Ashton, Sophie Le, Julianne & Jonah. We have had a couple other precious children mixed in there along the way. It is so amazing to see what happens when you open your heart and home to these precious children. As I have said before, WE are the ones that are BLESSED by their presence. Each child we have had has strengthened my FAITH, made my heart LOVE more and given me HOPE.

The last update I got on Little Man is that he is living with his godmother. If you followed our private blog while we had Little Man, you may remember I met her during court. Needless to say, I wish he was still with us!!!

Here are a few of my favorite pics of Little Man...

The day we got him...I picked him up in the Wal-Mart parking lot...I remember the exact parking spot...haha!
Sophie Le LOVED helping me give him a bath. When she heard me getting his bath ready, she would run to her room and bring back her little pink stool so she could see better :o)
His smile always melted my heart...
I used to drop him off at daycare a couple days a week while I worked at MDO. His teachers said he knew when it was almost time for me to come (around 2:30) and he would stand by the door saying, "Mama, mama, mama" over and over again. I mean, come on...tell me that wouldn't hook you :o) Did I mention that he was a very smart little guy?
Easter Sunday...he looked soooooo handsome!!

All four kiddos at the zoo. These days were some of the best days of my life...
This is one of my favorite pics. They loved him and he loved them...
I sure miss my Little Man!

On a completely different subject, have you tried Jillian's 30 day shred? Like it, hate it?

I copied and pasted what you said about foster care and e-mailed it to my husband. (That's how I often talk with him about serious adding onto our family type stuff). It gives him time to process it before we talk. Keep us in your prayers. I haven't really told many people we are even entertaining the idea of foster care...

Tears came to my eyes seeing Little Man. What a precious boy that I know you miss dearly! I have not done Jillian's 30 day shred but do one of her cardio dvd's at least 4 times a week. Totally believe in her approach. It's tough, but she doesn't look like that for free!

I remember following your blog when you had little man & little lady! So sweet. I hope they are loved wherever they are now. I wish we lived closer! It would be fun to meet you & your family...maybe in Tulsa this year? We'll be there. Anything with the word "shred" in it must be good....I could stand to shred a few myself...well, more than a few! We're going skiing in March & I am entirely too out of shape for it; maybe I'll check out Jillian!
