Day 119 - Grandparent's Day, Gardening & Sweet girls...

Today was Grandparent's Day at Hillary Ashton's school. Her class has been practicing really hard for the past few weeks for this day and she was really excited to have her grandparents come to visit her school. Unfortunately my parents are under the weather so they were not able to make it...Hillary Ashton was really sad, but agreed that it would be okay if she could send them a video of her performance :o)

The best part of grandparent's day (to me) is that my baby got out of school at lunch :o) Yea!! We met for lunch at Mimi's Cafe...
day 118 f
Both of the big girls ordered Mickey Mouse pancakes with was a big hit :o)
day 118 e

After lunch, we headed home to play and to let the little kids get a much needed nap :o)

Watch out Project Runway...there is a budding new designer on the horizon...Hillary Ashton :o) She loves making all kinds of accessories out of nature...haha! Here is Mimi's awesome headband...

And Papa's designer belt...

Why would you use a pail to carry your rocks when you have a perfectly good rain boot?

Notice anything "strange" about this picture?
I will give you a hint...Julianne is NOT wearing brown pants. Haha! I am telling you, that child does not like diapers. After her nap, she decided that she wanted to use the potty so I sit her on it. I walked out of the room to tend to Jonah and she came running to me with a big smile on her face. I said, "Julianne did you go potty?" and she very proudly said, "Yes!" I went to bathroom to check and sure enough she did! However, somewhere along the way she must have gotten the idea that she needs to stand up to potty. Uh oh! We will need to work on that some more :o) Anyways, as a reward I let her go commando for a little while...she LOVED it!

I am so sad to say that we are just now finding the time to finish planting our veggies and flowers. I have a goal to simplify our life and I will be doing my best in the coming months to make sure that is done. I don't like being too busy with "life" to plant seeds with my girls! That is not the life I want for my children.
Sophie Le is so happy that the zucchini that she planted last week is growing :o)
I just LOVE listening to their sweet conversations :o) It is so fun having three little girls!
This picture cracks me up! The big girls went in the house to get the seeds and Julianne just sit there patiently waiting on them. She would look at the garden and then up to the sky and then back to the garden...haha! Big sister never gets in any hurry so sometimes we spend a lot of time waiting on her...haha!
Okay, these next few pictures may be some of my favorites :o) Apparently she got a little bored waiting on her sisters :o)
She just LOVES sticking out her bottom lip anytime she is not happy with the current situation :o) I think it is the cutest thing!
So sweet!

Sophie Le really racked in some serious Mommy Money and Daddy Dollars tonight :o) Yea, Le Le!
She studied all of the items carefully...
And decided on...flash cards...this does not surprise me at all :o)
It didn't take her long to go through all of the cards (counting, shapes, colors)without missing any...she is a smart little cookie! She has know all of those things for at least 18 months. We are thinking about teaching her to read. She is asking me ALL OF THE TIME, how to spell this word or that word. She will also read the letters off of papers/signs/etc and ask what those letter spell. I really think she would learn pretty easily...but she is only three...there is so much time for that later...but really, is there any good reason to wait?

As usual, Hillary Ashton got big bank tonight :o) She is all about earning "money." Haha!
She chose rocket balloons...this choice did not surprise me at all either :o)
Little sister chose heart bracelets...this child is all girl!

Update on Julianne's bumps (THANK you to the commenter that told me that she also picked the bumps off of her son's face...I felt soooooooooo much better after reading that!) Okay, here is where we are today. I am making it black and white because, it really does look pretty bad. I mean, like she just got out of a boxing ring...and she didn't do well :o( You really can't see the horrible spot on her eyelid in this picture. However, I do think her face will look A LOT better in a couple days when the spots heal where I picked (eeeek!) off the bumps. Her lips are also getting a little better. At this point, we are not applying the cream. I may start it back in a few days when some of the rougher spots heal. I am praying we are on the home stretch!

Day 118 - The best days...

...are days when you catch a frog
Doesn't he look so happy to be caught? Haha!

... are days when you present your mom with a handful of popsicles you got out of the freezer and she says "okay, you can have one" even though you haven't had supper yet. It's even better if you do this while sporting a huge diamond ring...haha!

...are days when you are a hero to your little sisters because you had a such a great idea AND you can open the freezer all by yourself :o)

...are days when you and your sister can share a little girl talk on the swings over a popsicle :o)

...are days your mama lets you wear your favorite, new shirt even though it hasn't been through the wash since you wore it last night.

...are days when Daddy finally get the lawn mower fixed.
So the lawn mower can carry out it's true purpose...which are rides around the yard with Daddy, or course :o)

...are days when you kids go to bed with sweet memories and full hearts :o)

Today is Mimi's birthday...Happy Birthday Mimi!!

Day 117 - Parade, Swinging & Commercial...

Today the girls got a few supplies from the kitchen and danced/paraded around the living room...rocking out to a cd entitled "Classical Wedding Music." Haha! I think those girls could dance to anything!
Btw, how cute is Hillary Ashton's shirt? We got it for her last night at Target and she LOVES it!

In the meantime, I was in the kitchen making this...
Oh my gosh...Yum, yum, yummy! Mmmm, mmmm!

We also played outside for awhile...this picture was taken about one minute before Sophie Le got hit on the forehead by the car door...a HUGE bruise and bump appeared immediately :o( Poor baby!
She actually didn't cry much at all...I was shocked. She cries more when Julianne tries to take her toys...haha! My baby does NOT like anyone taking her toys :o)

Hillary Ashton is learning to "pump" her legs when she swings...Praise the Lord :o) Haha! Yet another benefit of her growing up...I am trying to embrace this growing up thing...haha!

We aren't making much head way with Julianne's! The medicine has made the bumps that weren't very noticeable VERY noticeable. It has also caused her right eyelid to look HORRIBLE. I have had so many people ask me if she fell and hurt her eye. Her lips are also very blistered. I dont' know what relation that is unless maybe she licked some of the cream? I am so ready to be done with these pesky bumps!
I have resorted to "picking" off a few of the smaller bumps. That has actually worked really well. At first this was her reaction to mommy picking the bumps off of her face (which I REALLY do feel bad about)...
However, if I let her honk my nose while I am picking off the bumps, she laughs and laughs. She is such a good sport.

In other news, the girls & I are totally in love with this commercial...

Haha! I had never seen the commercial until a 11 year old boy was on Ellen the other day talking about the video spoof he made of the Old Spice commercial his mom's birthday...

I think it may my favorite commercial ever. Haha!

Also today is Ally's 6th birthday...Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!

Day 116 - Kid's night out and Doodles...

Tonight was parent's night out at our church. It is an amazing opportunity that our church provides to parents twice a month for three hours. FOR FREE! Ah-maz-ing! We usually don't participate because (this is a bit embarrassing!) it starts a little late for our lifestyle :o) We usually like to have the kiddos in bed by 7 to 7:30 every night, so dropping them off at 6 usually isn't appealing to us...haha! However tonight, we decided to drop them off so we could have a nice "almost anniversary" meal out. We went to the Macaroni Grill since it is literally a couple blocks from the church and then ran down the street to Target to pick up some essentials. Pretty exciting, huh? The funny thing about Parent's Night Out is that the girls call it "Kid's night out." It doesn't even occur to them that it is a bit of a treat for parents to drop their kids...haha! They live in their own little world and I kinda like that :o) This afternoon when I told them that they were going tonight, Hillary Ashton said, "Yes! Tonight is going to be awesome. We get to do anything we want at Kid's night out." Hummmm, the whole "anything we want" thing sure made me rethink dropping them off...ha!

As much as I try to hold onto my babies as long as possible, there is something so sweet about them growing up and developing their own personalities and learning new things. One of my favorite things about Hillary Ashton starting kindergarten this year is that she is learning to read and write pretty well. I just LOVE the notes & cards she writes to me :o) She writes me letters almost everyday. She also draws pictures for me and puts them in places she knows where I will find them. Finding her notes/letters/drawings always makes my day. Here are two that I found this afternoon...
It says, "What a girl wants, what a girl needs." And the little girl (I am guessing that is Hillary Ashton) is saying, "Have you heard the song?" Haha! I never knew my girl was a fan of Christina Aguilar.

Here is another one...
The front says, "Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. Corinthians."
Here is the back (so sweet!)...
It says, "I am patient. I am kind. I do not envy. I do not boast. I am a good girl." Haha! LOVE it!

I agree, she is a pretty good girl :o)

Day 115 - Just keep Swimming...

My baby girl started swim lessons today. She was so excited! She took swim lessons last summer as part of a group and she LOVED it.
Today it was just her and her coach. He worked her HARD. He was actually pretty tough on my baby.
She was worn out after practice...I can't remember the last time she fell asleep in the car.
After practice, her coach gave her a pink ribbon that said, "swimming superstar." I think it is so sweet she fell asleep with it in her hand :o)

She has asked me several times today if I thought we might need to switch days in case there is a girl coach that wants to teach her :o) Haha!

Today is my friend Tricia's birthday!! Happy Birthday Tricia!!!

Day 115 - Forever Family Day...

There are so many special days throughout the year that bring back memories of our adoption journeys. The day our family was placed on the waiting list. The day our child legally became our daughter. The day we met our child. The day our child landed in the US. I could go on and on :o)

Well today is one of those days for our adoption journey to Sophie Le :o) This day three years ago, we received the much anticipated email in our inbox saying our Giving & Receiving Ceremony was set for May 15, 2007. We had been waiting for years (literally) to get the okay to travel to the other side of the world to meet our baby girl! To say we were ecstatic would be a huge understatement :o) We spent the next few days hammering out the details of our trip with our travel agency.

As our fourth family day is quickly approaching, I have been trying to decide how to celebrate this year. As in previous years, I will attempt to squeeze Sophie Le in her "USA overalls"....haha! I am not sure it will happen this year :o) I just love seeing how she how grown over the years compared to the outfit!
