Day 103 - Heifer Ranch...

Today I went with Hillary Ashton's class to the Heifer Ranch. I think she was most looking forward to riding the big yellow school bus...this was not Mommy's favorite part! Not only does my baby not ride in her carseat...she doesn't even have a seat belt! Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.

If you aren't familiar with Heifer International, their goal is to end world hunger and poverty. They give families the gift of livestock that they in turn use to make a living. The animal does not technically belong to the family until the animal has a female offspring that the family gifts to another family. At that point, the first family has ownership over their animal. The idea is to give a gift that keeps on giving :o)

We started the morning by touring the grounds...hayride style :o) I like hayrides!

After the hayride, this lady showed the kids how to milk a goat...

My girl thought it was very amusing...and was disappointed when she asked to milk the goat and was told they wouldn't be able to do that today.

The lady then proceeded to spray milk at the kids...yes, you read that right :o) Only in Arkansas do kids get sprayed with goat milk on their field trip :o) Haha! They all squealed in delight.

We then went to a barn where they kept baby goats, chicks and bunnies...
This guy was our guide. He is from Germany. He is living and working at the Heifer Farm for a year. I really liked his accent...

Could these babies be any cuter?

My girl asked if we could bring one home...

When he brought the bunny out, he covered its' eyes. He said that the bunny didn't think anyone could see him, if he couldn't see anything. Interesting.

I kinda felt like the pioneer woman taking picture of the horses :o) haha!

It really is quite relaxing and peaceful :o)

Here is another "probably only in AR"...a VW bug/flowerpot...sitting in the front yard of a house :o)
