Day 159 - My Birthday & Pinwheel Craft...

Today was the first day of the summer that we didn't HAVE to go anywhere..and we took advantage! It was sooooo nice :o) I could have spent the day catching up on some much needed housework, but I didn't think that would be a wise way to spend my birthday...haha!!

I took the girls out to play in their pjs this morning. The weather was PERFECT. Warm (but not hot) and breezy...my favorite!! The girls presented me with the longest stick ever...seriously, it was LONG...I can prove it, I took a picture :o)

Hillary Ashton is holding one end and the other end extends well past Julianne! Speaking of Julianne...goodness, gracious. Those pants she is wearing are pink, not brown...haha! A bubble bath was in her immediate future!

After a nice picnic lunch outside, we started today's craft...Pinwheels!! I have always enjoyed a good pinwheel :o) I LOVED today's craft!! Fun to make and fun to play with :o)

For this craft, you will need: card stock, beads, large paper clips, scissors, dowels & pliers

I cut out the pinwheels and center circles beforehand using this pattern.

The girls then folded down one side of each petal...

Next, choose two beads (this is easier said than done with three girls who love all the colors...haha!)...
DSC09678

Straighten out one large paper clip. Use your pliers (or wire cutters) to loop one end of the clip to keep the bead from slipping off...

Thread the bead on your wire..

Next, poke the wire through the circle of your pinwheel...

Next comes the main part of the pinwheel and then your second bead...

Finish by wrapping the wire around your dowel...

Pure...

I just love watching their sweet little lips pucker up to blow the pinwheels :o)

Watching Julianne blow her pinwheel may be the cutest thing I have ever seen!

This is her blowing face...LOVE it!

I got the idea for this craft from Alpha Mom.

The great thing about this craft is the girls LOVED the supplies :o) Hillary Ashton played with the paper clips...forever!
DSC09695
She loved twisting & bending the wire with the wire cutter! She also made a super cool paper clip necklace :o) I remember making a few of these back in the day :o)

Sophie Le LOVED sorting and resorting the beads by color and "color family."

For dinner, sweet hubby and the girls (and Jonah) took me out for a birthday dinner It was a good birthday...I can't believe I am already 29...wow!
