Day 160 - Special Day, Kittens & Craft: Balloon Yo-Yo's

God has poured out His love into our hearts. Romans 5:5

Flashback to June 10, 2009 - One June 8, 2009, we were told by our caseworker that our adoption case in Ethiopia had been closed and that she would call us as soon as she found out our new court date. We were hopeful that we would be able to travel in July, but that was a very optimistic timeline. Two days later, on June 10th my cell phone rang. Of course, I recognized the number was the number I had seen pop up on my phone almost daily since our original court date of May 21, 2009. It was our caseworker. We were hopeful that she already knew our new court date. I tried not to get my hopes up as I answered the phone. However, miracles happen!! Our caseworker said, I am not sure what happened, but you guys passed court last night (my birthday) and Fanose is officially your daughter! She also informed us that we were cleared to travel in a week and a half!!! Wow! Wow! Wow!

This darling angel, living on the other side of the world, was now (and forever) OUR baby girl!!!

What a wonderful day June 10, 2009 was for our family!!! I just LOVE how we have seen God's fingerprints all over both girls' adoptions. It is just amazing how we miraculously passed court on my birthday and how all of the official paperwork in Ethiopia was signed on Julianne's first birthday! I have mentioned it before, but Sophie Le was born on my grandma's birthday which happened to be twenty years to the day from the moment I knew I would adopt a little girl one day. You can read about that here :o)

In other news, I now share my birthday with a few others...Princess Lola had her kittens last night :o) I really feel like we are living an episode of "I didn't know I was pregnant" on TLC...haha! Just yesterday, I was holding Princess Lola and although I had suspected it before, I just KNEW she was pregnant. I googled "cat pregnancy" and Princess Lola fit the bill...right down the morning sickness a month or so ago...haha! I really thought (based on what I read online) that we had a couple more weeks until she had her kittens, but I was wrong! She had them sometime last night. We don't know where they are, but they are no longer in her belly :o) You can tell they have been feeding so hopefully they are healthy and safe. I just cannot believe our kitten is old enough to have kittens! We hadn't gotten her spayed yet because we thought she was too young to be spayed!

Here she is mid-November...
DSC02782 is it possible she is a mama already?

Today's Craft...Water Balloon Yo-yo's :o)
They remind me a lot of punch balloons.

To do this craft, you will need: balloons, water, scissors & large rubber bands
Step one - cut the rubber band in half...
Step two - fill the balloon about 1/4 full with water...
Step three - blow up the balloon to about the size of a softball...
This step may be harder than you think...haha :o)
Step four - tie one end of the rubber band (several knots) around the balloon and create a loop knot (several knots) to slip your finger into...
Step five - enjoy :o)

I had so much fun watching the girls play with their new yo-yo's...
What a difference a year makes!!

This craft got a thumbs up by all of the girls :o)
