Day 174 - Pottery Birthday Party and First Sleepover...

I took 193 pictures today, brace yourself :o)

You may remember that our family has a birthday tradition of having the number of birthday parties that corresponds to the child's age. So, for example, Julianne turned two this month so she gets two birthday parties. Pretty easy. In fact, she is having three parties this year. However, my oldest child is turning six this month and I am beginning to question this crazy idea! Today we had birthday party was #4 for Hillary Ashton...which means she still has two more parties to go :o) I really need to figure out a way out of this tradition...haha!

Today's party was at a local pottery painting studio. Hillary Ashton invited seven of her sweet girlfriends.

I just cannot believe my baby is turning six in a few short day. Just for my satisfaction, I have asked Hillary Ashton how old she a couple times just so I could hear her say "five." However, she always responds, "Six." Ugg! For the record she is NOT six YET...no matter what she says!

We did aprons and candy bags for favors. Hillary Ashton is a BIG chocolate fan, she chose Butterfingers, Kit Kat's and Reece's for the treat bags...that girl is one smart cookie!

What a cool party. You do the most amazing things with your girls.

Would you like to adopt an almost 40 year old girlie. I want a birthday party like that :-)

Here's how you get out of it: you say, "OK, ladies, after you're 6, the rules change. You may have 1 family party and 1 friends party, or you may combine them into one giant shindig!" I also read somewhere about a good way to tone down parties is to set a budget and let the kids decide what to spend money on. Especially good for girls, so that when wedding time rolls around (did I just say that? yikes!), they're well-trained. Just a thought. Don't get me wrong--I'm totally jealous of your awesome parties!
