Day 271 - I've Been Swept Away...

We would say Your name
A hundred times a day
Like speaking words in faith
And with a mixture of
Hope and fear and trust
We prayed for the strength to wait
And dreamed of how we’d feel the day
You’d be in our arms and …
Swept away
Caught up in our love
Home to stay
You’ll never be alone
You’ll be amazed
As how much you are loved
Your life will never be the same
Once you’re swept away
What once was just a dream
Is now reaching up to me
And I hold her in my arms
Father thank You for the way
You held her all the days
That we had to spend apart
And now I see the impossible dream
Is holding me and I’m …
Swept away.

P.S. $6 glow in the dark pjs are from Wal-Mart :o)

Day 270 - A Bad Morning...

Jonah had a well-baby visit scheduled for early this morning. We scheduled the appointment a month ago. Today was the "earliest available appointment." There is no other task I dread more than doctor visits. I absoutely DREAD taking the kids to the doctor. Every aspect from making the appointment to sitting in the waiting room for hours waiting on the doctor while entertaining four bored kids for hours...I dread it all. To make matters worse, my doctor visits are multiplied by four. Hillary Ashton and Julianne are up overdue for well-child visits and Jonah is overdue for a well-baby visit. It makes me feel overwhelmed thinking about it.
The doctor I take Jonah to takes FOREVER. Seriously, forever. I think we were there five hours one time, four hours the next, etc. It is just unreasonable to me that we sit there all day for a scheduled appointment. There aren't many things that put me in a bad mood, but doctor visits definitely do.
In an attempt to settle the chaos of taking four kids to the doctor's office (which I HATE because I feel like there are germs everywhere), I asked sweet hubby to take Sophie Le to work this morning. Sophie Le and Julianne a part are sweet, fairly obedient kids. Together they are little firecrackers who LOVE to push each other's buttons. Sweet hubby agreed so I only had three to take this morning.
I got to the office to check in for the appointment (which was suppose to be for a Thursday so I could drop the two little girls off at MDO, but the receptionist set it up for a Wednesday and I didn't check the date until yesterday) and Jonah's name was not on the computer. After 30 MINUTES, the receptionist realized she not only set it up on the wrong day, but it was also set up at the wrong clinic! Are you kidding me?!!?! I got four kids ready, fed, one kid bathed, entertainment and snacks packed, Sophie Le to Neil's work, drove 40 minutes and YOU set up the appointment at the WRONG CLINIC!!! Ugg!
I was sooooo mad. There were a million other things I would have rather have done this morning, but we had to go to the doctor and now we weren't even able to check it off the list because I was too aggravated (and now late) to drive to the other clinic for his appointment.
I went by and picked up Sophie Le (who LOVED going to work with Daddy) and headed home. I drove home with steam coming out of my ears because not only had I wasted the whole morning, I didn't even get his appointment done.
And then it hit me, I am so lucky. I am so lucky that this is such a big deal to me. I am so lucky that I am taking my baby to a WELL-BABY visit instead of taking a sick child to the doctor. I am so lucky to have these four firecrackers with me. I am so BLESSED to live the life I do. I don't deserve it, but I am so thankful to have it.
When I got home, I called DHS and changed his primary care provider and got appointments for three of the kids NEXT week at a different clinic in town. Yay! We used to use this clinic when Hillary Ashton was a baby and it is great. You can get in and out in a reasonable amount of time and you can get an appointment within a week or calling instead of a month or more out like our current doctor's office.
And then we had a great rest of the day :o)
The End.

Day 269 - Craft Time - Pumpkin Garland...

We go to MDO twice a week at our church. The definite highlight of the girls' day is when Daddy comes to take them to play during his lunch break. They have a good daddy :o) Here is a picture he texted me today of their play date :o)
Day 268 a
Those girls love their daddy!

Hillary Ashton's school day takes a bit longer on MDO days because we have to do tests, speed drills and reading when we get home since we do those things together. The girls have been wanting to do another Fall craft so I asked Hillary Ashton if she wanted to go to t-ball practice or do a craft since we didn't have time to do both...dumb question...craft trumps all other activities :o) Haha!

I have been saving paper towels rolls for quite awhile and honestly, I have been feeling a little weird about having a drawer full of empty rolls and absolutely no plans for them. Haha! However, when I saw this cute pumpkin garland the other day, my weird obsession for empty rolls no longer seemed crazy. I NEED all of those rolls for this fun Fall craft :o)

Today our empty paper towel rolls turned into this cute pumpkin garland for the fireplace mantle...

My girls LOVE, LOVE, LOVE any craft that involves paint and there is a lot of painting to do with this craft so it was a winner in their book :o) If you want to adorn your mantle with some fancy Fall garland, here is what you need and how you do it...

Paper towel rolls (or toliet paper rolls), paint, paint brushes, ruler, pencil, twine and a hot glue gun.

Flatten your paper roll and mark every half inch...
Cut the roll on the marks. You will need six pieces to make each pumpkin. You can get 22 pieces out of each paper towel roll. We made eight pumpkins so we needed three rolls. The girls (especially Le Le) LOVED all of the couting required by this craft :o)
I know I am her mama, but isn't that just the sweetest little face? :o)
It totally cracks me up when my girls see the camera pointed in their direction and they flash me a quick (fake) smile :o) I just know they are thinking, "Hurry and take the picture and let me finish my work, Mama!"
Sophie Le almost always tucks her fingers when she is working on a project. I LOVE her sweet little fingers.
This child LOVES messy projects.
Here are our 24 orange pieces. Hillary Ashton "arranged" these.
Here are our 24 black pieces. Sophie Le arranged these :o)
Notice a difference? Those two piles of pumpkin pieces pretty much sums up each of my girls!

Now you are ready to assemble the pumpkins! You will need four pieces as they are and two pieces cut on one end...
Line up four pieces on a straight edge and glue them together on the side where they touch...
Next, glue one straight piece on the bottom and one on the top...

Finish the pumpkin with a stem on top (cut about 1/4 inch piece from the paper roll and then cut off the end)...

You're almost done!!

Next, lace the twine through the pumpkins...

...and then hang it up!

Personally, I think it is the perfect compliment to fabric pumpkin :o) Haha!

Who would have guessed our mantle would be decorated with toliet paper and paper towels rolls? Haha! We are high class around here :o)

Day 268 - Crafts, Costumes and Cats...

My girl is back!!! Yay!
Btw, the girls LOVE their new glow in the dark skeleton pjs we got for only $6!! They literally wait by the laundry room when I wash them :o)

I am excited about the projects planned for this week! We will be attempting to make bottlecap necklaces!! I think the girls will LOVE this project! We also plan to make pumpkin garland to hang on the fireplace mantle :o) Yay!

Thank you for the costume suggestions for Halloween! I had to laugh when I read the Dr. Seuss suggestion because I had already thought about making Sophie Le and Julianne, Thing 1 and Thing 2 :o) However, Hillary Ashton has NO interest in being Dr. Seuss :o( Hillary Ashton told me that she wants to be Jesse from Toy Story and Sophie Le said she wants to be Woody. Not sure why Le wants to be the cowboy rather than the cowgirl. Hmmm.

As of today, our sweet Meow has been missing for TWO WEEKS! Hillary Ashton has made lots of "missing cat" signs, but so far there hasn't been any sign of him :o( If you happen to see a solid black cat with a great personality who loves to hunt and do crafts, he is our Meow. We miss him!

Here's Meow with Princess Lola when they were babies...

Day 267 - Busy Month Ahead...

Gulp. My baby is turning four in less that a month. Unbelievable. I need to come up with a theme for her birthday party. It will probably be another outdoor party like her party last year...I LOVE outdoor parties in the Fall!

Here is what we've done so far...

Birthday #1 - Ladybug party in Arkansas and Pink and Green part in Florida
Birthday #2 - Mickey Mouse Party
Birthday #3 - Dora the Explorer Party

Any ideas for this year's theme?

I also need ideas for Halloween costumes.

Here is what we've done in the past...

Halloween #1 - Hillary Ashton as a cow. I don't have any of those pictures on my computer. But she was tiny and C.U.T.E.
Halloween #2 - Hillary Ashton as Raggedy Ann and a clown...obviously, we only had one kid...haha!
Halloween #3 - Hillary Ashton and Sophie Le as cowgirls. This was also the year the girls won our pet goldfish at our church's carnival....the girls named her "Cowgirl."
Halloween #4 - Hillary Ashton as Cinderella and Sophie Le as Princess Dora.
She loved getting her hair curled and putting on make-up!
Sophie Le is ready to go too!
Halloween #5 - Hillary Ashton as Wonder Woman, Sophie Le as a clown and Julianne as Raggedy Ann.

So, what should we do this year for Halloween? I think a theme for all four kids would be really cute, but not necessarily a necessity.

Day 266 - Baseball and Roommates...

This morning, Hillary Ashton had a t-ball game. Once again, we were blessed with amazing weather!

Hillary Ashton was soooooo excited that her sisters and brother had shirts to match hers for the game today!

She asked if I was going to get the little kids to stand backwards during the game so she could see the number 6 on the backs. Haha!

Oh my goodness. Jonah in a baseball cap...cuteness overload!

Don't let the sweet faces fool you...I think these two look for ways to drive me crazy...every minute of everyday...haha!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the t-ball games? This was one of my favorite moments of today's game...three players from the other team wrestling over the ball. Our coach had to get the ball from one of the players so we could continue the game. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

Look at the smile on my baby's face as she is getting ready to bat. So sweet!

She LOVES hearing her sisters cheer for her :o)

Check out that speed :o)

Hillary Ashton enjoys batting MUCH more that playing the field. She gets pretty bored because "no balls ever come to third base!" Luckily, she usually has plenty of ways to occupy her time :o) Here she is dancing...

Sweet Sophie Le...

My babies...

Cousin Ashley, Ganny and Papa Texarkana got to the game just in time to see the handshakes at the end of the game :o)

Hillary Ashton went home with them for a couple days :o( I know she is having a blast, but we miss her sooooo much!

Unfortunately, this afternoon's game didn't go as well as this morning's game. The Hogs played really well, but in the end ( the end), they lost. It was a very hard loss. It would have been so amazing to beat #1, Alabama!

We switched up roommates at our house this week. We are thinking Jonah might be here for awhile so we moved him out of our room and into a room with Julianne. Hillary Ashton moved into a room with Le Le. Whew! Tonight, we went to Home Depot to get a few parts so we could bunk the beds in the big girls' room!
Someone was a little excited about bunk beds!

The cooler weather also inspired me to start a Fall outfit for Sophie Le today. I found this orange polka dot fabric at Hobby Lobby and I LOVE it. I think it will look really cute on Le Le!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
