Day 252 - Game Day & New Year's Day...

Don't forget about Friends of Fanose! We have twenty days left to raise $700! $700 to build a well!!!! Yay! I can hardly wait!

Hillary Ashton played in her very first t-ball game this morning. The weather was perfect and the kids were adorable!

This morning, I told Hillary Ashton to get her baseball things together. I went to check on her and she had it all pants, baseball socks, baseball glove, baseball bat, cleats and her pearls :o) Yes, her pearl necklace :o) Haha! LOVE that baby girl! She did take it off right before the running onto the field "because pearls are really fancy" and she didn't want to "get them dirty."

There were so many funny moments during the game. Some of my favorites were when...

Several kids ran to third base instead of first (soooo cute!).

One kid hit the ball and then ran and got it in the field (one of my favorite moments!).
Hillary Ashton, who was playing on third base, kept trying to leave her base during the first inning because other kids kept trying to take her spot (the "other" kids were the kids from the other team that were running bases).

Hillary Ashton ran straight from first to third base because the kid on second base wanted to stay there...haha!

After the game, I asked Hillary Ashton if she made any new friends and she said no because none of the other kids would tell her their name (all of the other kids were boys). She then corrected herself and said, "Well, I did make one friend that I liked talking to, we talked a lot. But she was wearing red (she was the third base coach for the other team and the only other "girl" on the field). You know that is what girls do." I said, "What do girls like to do?" and she said, "Girls like to talk. Boys do not like to talk." I guess she did learn a pretty important lesson today :o) Haha!

I wonder if we will take Jonah to his first t-ball game in a few years?
This one kept us on our toes during the game...
Luckily she always mixes in some sweetness!
She loved cheering for her big sister :o) I think Hill may have the most spirited cheerleaders this season :o)

We had a great time watching our baby play baseball :o)
We are looking forward to many more games this fall!
Go blue team!

I am so lucky to be this little girl's mommy!

After the game, we went to Arkadelphia to pick up Sophie Le. She spent the last two nights with her grandparents. When I picked her up, I said, "Oh, Sophie Le, I missed you so much. It has been so quiet around the house without you." Which is HAS. We had to wake up all of the kids this morning at 8:00 a.m. When Sophie Le is here, she wakes up the kids at 6:45 a.m. She and Julianne constantly squeal in delight and argue. Constantly. Sophie Le also talks non-stop through-out the day. From the moment she wakes up to the moment she goes to bed. So I thought it was really funny when she said, "Oh, I wish I had been at our house when it was quiet. I love when it is quiet. It was not quiet at all at Ganny and Papa's house." Haha! I wonder why it wasn't quiet there this weekend? Haha! As much as I LOVE the quiet, I wouldn't trade my loud baby for anything in the world!

Today is the a big holiday in Ethiopia. It's new year's day...2003. So in honor of the new year, "Enquan laddis amet aderesachuh (wishing you all a happy new year)!!" I was so pleased to get an email from our adoption agency letting us know that celebrations were held at the foster care centers and government orphanages in Addis Ababa today to celebrate the new year :o)

9/11/01 - I remember.

Oh my goodness--love this post. Love the PEARLS! And what Sophie Le said about the quiet house. :) :) :) We should get her and Alexee together and just sit and listen--it would be funny I'm sure! Alexee talks daylight til dark too.

I'm glad that she realizes that pearls can go with any occasion. They're classic!
