Day 310 - Morning Routine, Daddy's Office and Orphan Sunday...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes! Our morning routine is getting a makeover! I came up with two ideas last week and I am implementing this week in hopes of making our mornings smoother and less stressful. I am keeping my fingers crossed! Here is a sneak peek at one of the changes...

I'll let you know how it turns out!

After church today, we picked up a pizza and went to check out Daddy's new office. Hillary Ashton has been wanting to "decorate" Daddy's new office since he told her he was changing jobs! Haha!

Hillary Ashton found the "perfect place" to put a framed picture...right in front of Daddy's chair!

I wonder what picture it is?

I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me! Matthew 25:40

November is National Adoption Month and today is Orphan Sunday!!! The goal of Orphan Sunday is promote awareness of God's call for us to care for orphans. As Christians, we are ALL called to "defend the fatherless." Of course, adoption is a way to answer the call to care for orphans, but it's not the only way! There are SO MANY other ways to obey His command. I love the saying, "not everyone is called to adopt, but we are all called to CARE."

Here is a great video about the need of orphans in OUR WORLD.

Our church did not celebrate Orphan Sunday today. I love our church, but it has always seemed like adoption is not a focus there. They volunteer their space for foster care support, but adoption/foster care is rarely spoken about during worship. It makes me so sad. I know we need to do our part to spark a change, I just wish a change wasn't needed. We attend one of the largest churches in Arkansas...I just don't get it.

I feel incredibly BLESSED and humbled that our family has been called to adopt. Our family would not be complete if we had not answered the call. I cannot imagine not having Julianne and Sophie Le in our family. The thought almost takes my breath away. If you are feeling a tug in your heart...answer it! You will be blessed!

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." Romans 8:14-16

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. James 1:27

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows — this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families. Psalms 68:5-6

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4-6

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice. Proverbs 31:8-9

I feel the same way. Our church is huge and lots of focus on local outreach and foreign missions which is awesome! I LOVE my church! But there is nothing about adoption. It's strange because our preacher AND youth minister have adopted children. As soon as I start talking about it, everyone clams up like I'm spreading germs. ESPECIALLY when I bring up African adoption! Definitely some changes needed and I hope I gather up enough courage to do something about it.
