Day 321 - A year ago...

It literally takes my breathe away to think of how different our lives would be if we had chosen to take one path instead of another.

The year was 2000, I was dating someone at the time. A new guy started at our firm one day and that night we had a recruiting event for some college kids at a local bar. I saw the new guy from across the room and I have NO IDEA why, but I walked straight over to him and said, "Are you Neil Arnold?" He said, "Yes." The rest is history :o) What if I hadn't?

I could have missed spending the rest of my days with two of the most amazing people in the world...
Can you imagine?

It seems like just yesterday, adoption was a dream for us. We told ourselves adoption is hard. There is too much paperwork. The fees are too high. It takes too long. All of the signs were pointing to No...but we chose Yes. What if we hadn't?

We would have missed out on one of the biggest BLESSINGS of our lives...

Fast forward a year. We had two sweet little girls. Life was good. Life was easy. Then one day, the tugging began. It got stronger and stronger. The reality hit us like a ton of bricks...we had another daughter and she was living in Ethiopia. We HAD to go get her...she needed us. And you know what? We needed her even more! What if he hadn't made that phone call, started the paperwork, et cetera, et cetera.
Can you imagine?

While we were in adoption process for Julianne, we watched a video about foster care at church one night. What if we hadn't been there that night? What if we had chosen the path that made the most sense? Haha! We could have missed out on these precious little miracles...

Little Man (Be still my heart)
I MISS that Little Man soooooo much.
Little Lady...the spunkiest little kid I have ever met. What a sweetheart!

Can you imagine?

And one year ago (yesterday), we received a call about a sweet baby boy that was only six days old. Because of the horrid circumstances surrounding his birth, he was looking for a family to hang out with for awhile :o)

Our family was called. We declined. We prayed. We researched. We prayed. We accepted.
We fell in love.

I am so thankful for the year we have had with Jonah. He is a miracle. A blessing.

Is there anything tugging at your heart? Do you feel led to take a step outside your comfort zone? What if you ignore it? What if you don't open the door? What if you miss out on one of the biggest blessings of your life?

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight
