Last chance....remember, trust. The circle of trust...you will be OUT!!!!!!

I AM NOT JOKING, DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS POST!

This post is about a few of my FAVORITE gift ideas :o) If your family is anything like ours, they are impossible to buy for. You can imagine my delight when I was able to declare my Christmas shopping done last weekend!!!

First...Kiva Gift Cards. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this one!! A friend's mom posted about the Kiva organization on facebook a few weeks ago. Without even thinking much about it, I clicked on a link she posted in her status. Once I arrived at the site...I was HOOKED. Kiva helps changes lives around the world. The misson of Kiva is...

"to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending."

So, what you do is visit the Kiva site and browse through the posted loan requests and choose what loan you would like to help fund. You can search by country, sector or even gender of the person requesting a loan. You can invest as little as $25 or you can choose to fund the entire loan requested. Once the loan is repaid to Kiva, you will receive your investment back.

Okay, get this...98.78% of the loans are repaid!!!!!!!

Here is an example...

The people in the picture above live in Cambodia. They will use their loan money to hire laborers to help them harvest rice on the 1-hectare plot of land they own. They have to rice to harvest, but not enough help. The will repay their loan in 8 months.

Pretty cool, huh? Once you are repaid, you can cash out or reinvest in another project. LOVE this idea!

We purchased Kiva gift cards this year which will allow the person we give the card to to choose which project they want to invest in.

Next...Toms shoes. First of all...Toms shoes are cool.

I am IN LOVE with these Tiny Toms...I think all my girls need a pair :o)

Great gift, right? Well there is a super added bonus to giving Toms shoes as a gift. For every pair of shoes you purchase, Toms will donate a pair or shoes to a child in need.

I mean, come on...how cool is that? Look how happy these kids are with their new shoes :o)

My last favorite gift for tonight is Canvas prints. This year I used Canvas People to order several gifts. You upload a picture to their website and they will print it on a canvas. You can choose a canvas as small as 8x10or as large as 18x24. I placed my order a few days ago and I am dying for it to get here!!! I may have ordered a couple for myself too :o) Another great thing about this site is they are offering 40% off if you use the code, holiday2010. AND FREE SHIPPING :o)

Oh, I almost forgot...photo calendars. We do those every year too and they are always a hit :o)

What are some of your favorite gifts to give this year?

Btw, I received no compensation for the above post :o)
