A Few Random Thoughts...

I've been sucked into The Bachelor this season. I just LOVE the destination locations this season...oh, how I would LOVE to go to South Africa!!!! I have a bit of a different perspective on this season...I looked up the winner a month or so ago...interesting to watch things play out when you know how it ends :o) Oh, and I am looking forward to Dancing With The Stars! I LOVE Kendra and who doesn't like The Karate Kid? Ha!

After school today, we went to four stores trying to put together Hillary Ashton's outfit for's "Book Character Day!" My girl loves having a project. I sure hope I will be able to find a purple boa tomorrow...I am thinking Toys R Us might have one?

Jonah has been repeating things like crazy this week! It won't be long before he is chatting away with the girls! I don't remember the other girls talking this early.

I love all of the ideas you guys have sent my way in regards to nicknames for the girls! I am almost positive I am going to switch to code names...dynamics kinda change when you kids start school...what do you think?

Daddy is such a softy...I will just leave it at that...haha!

I want to go to the beach.

I am thinking about using nicknames for the girls on the blog instead of their real names. It will probably take me forever to change all of the back posts :o)

So...any ideas for you creative folks out there? What would be some good "code names" to use for my babies?

I have two kids that are really, really good car riders...always have been.

I have one kid that is a pretty good car rider.

So that leaves one...that kid is a horrible car rider...horrible.

After six hours in the car, I am sooooooooo thankful to be home...and even more thankful that everyone is in bed :o)

I went to the Arkansas foster parent conference today...boy, was it eye-opening....and SAD.

A few things that I can't get out of my head...

Foster mom who cannot get her five year old
foster son to quit drinking out of the toilet.

Twelve year old girl with FAS freaked out her
playmate when she bit the head off of a lizard.

Six year old foster son {with no DOCUMENTED
sexual abuse} abused his two year old foster brother.

I could go on and on. It just isn't fair for these precious kiddos. AND did you know that if you put a raw egg into a glass of Everclear (alcohol), it will "cook" the egg? The egg looks like a fried egg after about a hour and a half...kinda blew my mind.

Tonight we did something we haven't done in a L.O.N.G time...we went out to eat on a FRIDAY NIGHT! You know..."date night." Ha! We usually don't go out to eat on nights you have to wait for a table...for obvious reasons :o) We only had Jonah and Le with us and they did GREAT and the food was SOOOOOOOO yummy.

I am stuffed and tired...see ya tomorrow :o)

My Kind of Sick Day...

I picked up Hillary Ashton yesterday from school and all was well. She had a great day and she was SUPER excited about the playdate we had set up with her sweet little friend. We picked up her friend and headed to a local inside play area. She played and had a great time...until we walked out of the door to leave. I asked the kids to sit on a bench to get a quick pic...

I snapped the picture and said, "Hillary Ashton, are you okay?" She said, "I feel weird." And boy, was she right.

A bit of the weirdness came out as we drove down the road. Ewwwwwww! Isn't there someone else to clean up these types of messes? Why is it always the mom?

By the time bedtime rolled around, she was back to her chipper, happy self. Praise the Lord.

She woke up feeling great, but I kept her home to be safe and I took the little kids to MDO so they wouldn't catch any residue from this bug.

Me and my girl had a GREAT "sick" day! We watched movies {I forgot that Hansel and Gretal is such a scary movie!} all morning and then met Daddy for lunch.

We LOVE eating at Pasta Jack's in the Rivermarket!! There was NO problem with her appetite today :o) In fact, we had to make a quick trip through Wendy's after lunch for a frosty!

My cute lunch dates :o)

Gotta love a sick day when you kid feels good!

Hmmm...this may help explain a few things...

I found this article about adopting children of a different race interesting. The article is about Britain adoptions, but I learned a few things I didn't know about our country's social workers.

What are your thoughts?

This is the Reason...

...I have such a hard time getting anything done these days...this type of "fun" goes on ALL DAY LONG. And there is usually two more in the mix.

President's Day...

Happy President's Day!

*Thanks to Hillary Ashton's teacher for providing me {clear} pictures of my girl's big night :o)

Mighty To Save...

Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.

Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.
So take me as You find me,
All my fears and failures,
Fill my life again.

I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in,
Now I surrender.

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

Shine your light and let the whole world see,
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus

Our Day...

According to the pictures on my phone :o) Ha!

I pretty much stopped doing the home school videos for Sophie Le when Hillary Ashton started public school in October, but I still pull worksheets for her to do every once in awhile. She LOVES doing school work! She takes after her mama :o)

I asked the little girls if they wanted to walk to the mailbox with me after lunch...they decided they wanted to go...but they would rather ride than walk :o)
Sophie Le was thrilled that the weather was warm today so could wear her crocs :o) Our family loves our crocs :o)

The weather was sooooo nice, we decided to stay outside and play for awhile.

After school, we stopped by Wal-Mart so the girls could buy something with their Valentine money (thanks Mimi & Papa).

The six year old chose a princess zhu zhu pet and princess clothes.
The four year old chose a princess cd player...this is not the first princess cd player that has entered our home...if fact, I think we have purchased at least two before this one :o)
The two year old chose a princess camera...probably the tenth kid camera to enter our home :o)

I see a theme.

Honest Abe & Soccer...

First grade is wearing me out! Monday was the Valentine's party (food, valentines & mailbox), Tuesday was the patriotic musical, Wednesday was church and today was soccer evaluations, homework, studying for the tomorrow's spelling test AND an overdue project...eeeeeekkkkk!

Yep...overdue. How is the world did that happen? I don't think I was ever late on a project...ever. And now, I have caused my baby to be late on a project...and she is only in the first grade! I hope this isn't a sign of things to come! Apparently sometime in the last month, information about this "big project" was sent home in Hillary Ashton's folder. I have no recollection of that event. She got a note sent home today saying that she has lost 10 points on the project since it is late (due on Wednesday). Crap. Shouldn't I be getting docked 10 points instead of my baby? And while they are at it, they can assign any tardies to me too :o)

I helped her work on the project tonight...we can't afford to lose any more points! We are barely hanging on to an "A" at this point :o) Ha! She had to write a speech about her favorite president {which is Abraham Lincoln...who knew?} and make a vest out of a paper sack.

Writing her is it possible that my baby is writing? Wasn't it just yesterday that she was learning her ABCs?
The vest...
Her favorite thing about Lincoln is that slavery was abolished during his presidency, hence the Gettysburg address quote :o)
She also likes that he "gets to have his face on two monies."
Practicing her speech for daddy...

Lucky evaluations were tonight too!

This child has never played fact, I don't think she has ever touched a soccer ball.
That little fact did not affect her confidence at all :o)
That's my baby :o)
She called Daddy when she finished. She said, "I did good. Really, really good."

Mommy was sooooo thankful that these little sweeties did good during the evaluations too :o)
