Training...

I went to the Arkansas foster parent conference today...boy, was it eye-opening....and SAD.

A few things that I can't get out of my head...

Foster mom who cannot get her five year old
foster son to quit drinking out of the toilet.

Twelve year old girl with FAS freaked out her
playmate when she bit the head off of a lizard.

Six year old foster son {with no DOCUMENTED
sexual abuse} abused his two year old foster brother.

I could go on and on. It just isn't fair for these precious kiddos. AND did you know that if you put a raw egg into a glass of Everclear (alcohol), it will "cook" the egg? The egg looks like a fried egg after about a hour and a half...kinda blew my mind.

Tonight we did something we haven't done in a L.O.N.G time...we went out to eat on a FRIDAY NIGHT! You know..."date night." Ha! We usually don't go out to eat on nights you have to wait for a table...for obvious reasons :o) We only had Jonah and Le with us and they did GREAT and the food was SOOOOOOOO yummy.

I am stuffed and tired...see ya tomorrow :o)

The stories are HORRENDOUS! Unfortunately, these types of children made up my close circle of friends when I was growing up. I remember walking into 8th grade choir where my friend was crying. She had been dragged out of the shower and raped by her cousin that morning. Her family told her to "let it go". That tattling to the police would cause a rift in the family. He had been raping his sister for over a decade. She pretty much gave up on life and by our senior year had become pregnant. Her "Christian" father told her that because she was not married, she just sentenced the next 7 generations straight to hell. She was terrified and sick from the thought of sending her descendants to hell. AUGH! SO MANY CRAZIES OUT THERE!

I cannot believe the way some people treat God's gifts. If only they could see the Truth. Maybe some-day I can talk my husband into fostering. Every child deserves to know love.

:( it is so horrific...

our 6yr old foster son has no "recorded" history of sexual abuse but I don't trust him alone with any younger children... even without being sexually abused themselves I do think they somehow find sexual pleasure as a comfort - the only way to "feel good" during rough times. He's done a couple of things that raised my eyebrow so I just don't risk it.

Those stories are so sad... it's crazy that I'm living a life that involves all of this!
