Day 151 - Completely Inappropriate...

...sadly, those two words describe my precious little girls.

Lord knows I have tried to raise them to be polite, sweet young ladies. Obviously, I am failing miserably.

Exhibit One...

Exhibit Two...

I am not giving up...but it does appear to be an uphill battle...apparently using inappropriate "potty talk" is just too hard to resist...and extremely funny.

Day 150 - Kittens & Baby Boy...

Another fun, productive day! We finished up most of the projects we had planned for the house around noon and decided to relax the rest of the day...ahhhhh!

One of the biggest projects planned for this long weekend was to "tame" Lola's three kittens. Sunshine enthusiastically accepted the challenge :o) She LOVES (LOVES, LOVES, LOVES) those dang cats. Mama...not so much :o) Apparently Sunshine has a gift in taming the wild because "Stripy" was standing by the garage door this evening wanting to come in for a visit :o)

This photo is very telling...right now there bit of a struggle over whether or not to keep one of the kittens...the vote is 4 to 2 in favor of keeping one. Luckily Baby Boy has agreed to let me cast his vote...haha!

Speaking of Baby Boy...I just cannot put into words what a pleasure that baby has been the last few weeks. He has the best personality!

I have tried to let the little girls skip their naps this weekend, but those babies NEED sleep :o) I just love walking into a room and seeing them asleep :o)

Day 149 - Swimming, Handyman & Fireworks...

Last weekend, the girls wanted to swim, but it was too cold. The temperature definitely wasn't holding anyone back from swimming this weekend! What a difference a week makes! Welcome Summer! Of course, last weekend, we had a hotel pool...this weekend we have a plastic, baby pool :o) I don't think the kids minded...ha!

Sunshine waiting on the water :o)

My girls...

Big sister, little sister...

Big sister, little brother...

All my babies...

Fun times!

Today we hung curtains, painted two decks, painted a door and installed some hardware. Sweet hubby may be ready to head back to work Tuesday. So much for a relaxing vacation...ha!

Tonight, we put the little babies to bed and then woke them up about an hour later to go downtown to see the fireworks...they were so surprised :o)

This year we decided to watch the fireworks from the parking garage at Daddy's work. It was soooooo nice not to have to deal with the crowds!

So excited to have another day with my family tomorrow!!

Day 148 - Movies & Angry Birds...

I woke up this morning to the sad news that the body of Will Norton was found in a pond close to where his hummer was hit by a tornado in Joplin last week. He was on his way home from his high school graduation. Such a heartbreaking story...like so many others. Will was a very entertaining You Tube star...you can watch his videos here.

Everyday is a gift...a blessing.

A big thanks to Cindy for posting this summer's free movie schedule (for Central Arkansas). It isn't always easy to take four kiddos, six and under, to the movies...surprise, surprise! Haha! So it is nice to be able to go to FREE movies and not feel bad about leaving early if the natives get restless :o) You can go to Day 146 (click here) and look at the comment to see this summer's schedule.

We had a good day today. We spent the first part of the day shopping for a few things for the house...my hubby is such a good sport :o) This afternoon, while the little kids slept and hubby mowed the yard, I took Sunshine to a birthday party. The theme was so clever...Angry Birds! How cool is that? When we got the invitation, Sunshine went nuts. She LOVES Angry Birds :o)

The mom made the cake...

And they played a real life angry birds game where they tried to knock down cardboard boxes with balloons (decorated like angry birds) attached. I should have taken a picture because my description makes it sound lame, which it was not :o) Haha!

Okay, I know I have said this a thousand times, but Sunshine's teacher is a rockstar. You guys, she came to the birthday party this afternoon...on a weekend...a holiday weekend. Above and beyond. We have had LOTS of great teachers throughout the years, but I have never seen one come to a birthday party.

If only we could figure out a way to get her to teach second grade next year! Haha!

Day 147 - Storms & Kittens...

Weekends are great...LONG weekends are Ah-maz-ing! Sweet hubby took today off to extend our weekend even more. Whoo hoo!

We had a wonderful, relaxed day. Baby boy has been in such a good, happy mood this week. He has started talking more and follows directions very well. I just cannot get over what a sweet, happy, content baby he is. His big court date is a month from today. Pray.

Warning...the following could be considered a bit of a vent (and a lot of whining)...

As I was pulling out of the driveway last Wednesday to pick up Sunshine from school, the radio station was preempted to tell of a storm headed our way. We were warned about possible strong winds and hail. Sure enough, as we drove to school, we had strong winds and some very minor hail. Luckily, it was very brief and by the time we got to Sunshine's school, the sun was shining. Crazy.

After carpool, we headed straight to church and we didn't get home until after dark. When we left for MDO on Thursday morning, I thought I might have noticed something out of ordinary laying in the yard, but we were in a hurry and I put it out of my mind...until today. UGH!

Yes, MORE dang storm damage! The winds snapped three smaller trees.
And ANOTHER stupid tree uprooted...and laying across the yard. Uprooted...that means the root has to be removed too. Our tree guys charge a lot to remove roots. A lot. I hate roots.

That happened on Wednesday. The day before, we made what we thought was the last payment to the tree guys. UGH! I just cannot believe we have had so much tree damage this year. I feel lucky that we are safe and our house is unscathed...for the most part...

I am irritated. Do you know that we could have built almost TWO WELLS in Africa for what we have spent on tree clean up in the last month? {I gauge most expenses in terms of wells in Africia...haha.} It.is.SO.frustrating.

I will NEVER look at trees the same again.

And since I have already turned this post into a whining post...I will go ahead and get something else out there. Princess Lola had another "patch of kittens (as Little Pumpkin calls it)" a few weeks ago. Yes, that would be her second patch in less than a year. After her last patch, Meow (the daddy) left so we thought we could take our time getting her neuter. Boy, were we wrong. Dang country cats!

Of course, the girls are thrilled.

Anyone want a precious, cute kitten? Or firewood? Haha!

This is a long weekend. This is a long weekend. This is a long weekend. Whoo hoo! Feeling much better now! haha!

Day 146 - Summer & Will Norton...

Another day of MDO and school for us today. I am really (REALLY, REALLY) looking forward to school letting out for the summer. We missed several days in May due to flooding and electricity outages, but so far we haven't been informed that those days are being tacked onto the end of our school year...fingers crossed! I mean, really how much longer past the second week in June can you keep kids in school? I have Sunshine signed up for a camp starting the week of June 13th so I guess it really doesn't matter...haha!

This is what Sunshine looked like when I picked her up from school today. You know what? I wasn't really that suprised. Haha! LOVE that girl!

Have you heard about the free summer bowling progam for kids? It is a nationwide offer. You just go to this website and sign your kids up! They can bowl two games a day all summer long (weekdays). We usually LOVE taking advantage of the Free family movies each Tuesday and Wednesday, but I am not seeing that offer this summer. I found where Cinemark is offering discounted movies...anyone know if Rave Motion pictures is offering free movies this summer?

Have you guys heard the story of Will Norton? It is heartbreaking. You can read the unbelievable story here and you can join the Facebook page here. I pray they find that young man soon! I cannot imagine what his family is going through!

Day 145 - Mission Friends & GAs...

Wednesday nights, at our church, are amazing for kids! The kids eat with their friends and then the preschool kids go to choir and Mission Friends while school age kids have choir and GAs (RAs for boys). Wednesday night activities are one of the things we like most about our church.

Tonight, the girls participated in the end of the year programs for Mission Friends and GAs.

Little Pumpkin and Sweet Pea's classes were on stage at the same time. Little Pumpkin was insistent that Sweet Pea stand in front of her. This resulted in Sweet Pea spending quite a bit of her stage time turned around talking to her big sister...ha!
{Sweet Pea is on the front row, middle, in an orange dress.}

Sweet Peas class wore sunglasses because they told about a missionary that preaches about Jesus at the beach and Little Pumpkin's class wore sailor hats because...um...well, I missed that part :o)

This was Sweet Pea's first time to perform on stage! She did great...my favorite part was when she spotted us in the audience and ran off the stage and gave us a huge and ran back to the stage. Big sister tried to hold her back...didn't work :o)

Sweet Pea's class went to the playroom after their performance and Little Pumpkin's class joined their parents to watch the rest of the show.

Next up...GAs! This is Sunshine's first year as a GA. The first graders received their GA sashes and first badges tonight. I am not sure if they wear their sashes anytime except the end of the year programs each, but nonetheless, Sunshine was excited :o)

Good job girls!

In foster care news, no more visitations until further notice.

Day 144 - Trees & Bread...

I am happy to report, as of today, we are officially done with the "tree guys." The clean up has not been a pleasant experience...and it has lasted a whole MONTH! BUT, we are done! Whoo hoo! Our car should be ready tomorrow. I am a bit nervous that my hubby is secretly mourning the impending loss of his rental car...a minivan. Haha! We have both fought the "minivan war" for years and judging by a few comments by the hubby this month, I think he has been won over! Ha! Trees done, car done...all that is left is getting the front of the house painted and we will be back to square one :o) Yay!

I am super excited about a bread starter I got from a friend last week. I "fed" it tonight and I it will be ready to make tomorrow...I can't wait!
I {heart} homemade bread!!

Day 143 - Boo Boo...

The band aid on Little Pumpkin's chin is from a mishap while visiting Six Flags. The ride she was most EXCITED to ride was the carousal. When she spotted the ride, she ran...she tripped...she fell chin first on the concrete step. It was sad. I felt so bad for her.

She loves having the band aid on her chin. All of my girls like band aids...must be a kid thing...haha! {Thank you to those of you that asked about her boo boo! I will tell her.}

On a different note, I am soooooooooooooooooo happy that my girls are such great car riders!
It sure does make road trip more pleasant :o)

Day 141 - More Flags, More Fun...
